Genus. in 1892. In 1917 she graduated from the Higher Women's Courses in Moscow and worked as a high school teacher. In 1924, she graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Applied Zoology and Phytopathology, remained in scientific work at the department of mycology and phytopathology of the All-Union Institute of Plant Protection (VIZR), and taught a course in phytopathology at the Fruit and Vegetable Institute. In 1935, the husband was arrested, the sentence was “minus 15”, and he and his family were exiled to Saratov. In Saratov she worked as a regional phytopathologist at the Saratov Department of Forest Protection and Planting. 10/20/1937 arrested, the second arrest of her husband. Sentenced by the Saratov Troika of the NKVD under Article 58-10 to 8 years in prison. She was kept in the Unzhensky ITL from February 1938 to March 1944. She worked as a laundress, telephone operator, laboratory assistant at a clinical hospital, and for the last 4 years as a paramedic. In 1942, the twin sons died in besieged Leningrad. The husband was sentenced to 10 years and died in Siblag in October 1943. Karpova-Benoit learned about the deaths of her children and husband only after her release. For 9 years she worked at the Ivanovo Agricultural Institute in the department of mycology and phytopathology, then at the All-Union Research Laboratory for the Study of Poisonous Mushrooms and at the All-Russian Research Institute of Veterinary Parasitology, Mycology and Sanitation. In 1947 she defended her PhD thesis at the Leningrad Agricultural Institute. In 1960, she compiled the “Terminological Dictionary-Reference Book for Plant Pathologists.” In 1973, she prepared and published a book (Benoit K., Karpova-Benoit E. Parasitic fungi of Yakutia. (Ponosporaceae, powdery mildew, smut and rust). Novosibirsk. Science. 1973), collecting and processing scientific materials left from her husband . She died in 1982 in Leningrad.
