Genus. in 1876 in the city of Yaransk, Vyatka province. in the family of a priest. He graduated from the Yaran Theological School, in 1896 - the Vyatka Theological Seminary, in 1900 - the Kazan Theological Academy. Since 1911 - Bishop of Novgorod-Seversky, vicar of the Chernigov diocese. Since 1916 - Bishop of Starodub. Since 1917 - Bishop of Chernigov. In 1921 he was arrested for several days as a hostage. In 1922, he was arrested again and exiled for three years outside the Chernigov diocese. In 1923 he was elevated to the rank of archbishop. 11/30/1925 arrested in Moscow. In 1926 he was exiled for three years to the Komi-Zyryansky region. After the end of his exile, he returned to Chernigov. On October 16, 1930, he was arrested in Chernigov and sentenced to five years in prison on charges of counter-revolutionary activities. He was imprisoned in Solovki, in 1931 he worked on the construction of the White Sea Canal in the May-Guba camp, in 1932 he was kept in a disabled camp in Kuzem. After his release he returned to Yaransk. In 1937 he died in the Kotelnich psychiatric hospital.
