Genus. in 1881 in Uralsk; hereditary nobleman; graduated from the Military Law Academy. In 1913 he served in the Military Prosecutor's Office. In 1917 - lieutenant colonel. In 1918-1920 - Private Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, St. Petersburg University. In 1921-1924 - professor at the department of history of public law institutions at St. Petersburg University. In 1924, after the “purge”, he was dismissed from the university as a nobleman. From 1925 to 1929 - head of the alphabetical catalog of the BAN. Researcher at the State Historical and Historical Museum in the category of Russian archeology. Since 1925, employee of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR. Lived in Leningrad, st. B. Pushkarskaya, 1/8, apt. 10. Arrested on July 18, 1930 by the Plenipotentiary Representation of the OGPU in the Leningrad Military District as part of the Academic Case . Charged under Art. 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR. Sentenced on February 10, 1931 by the OGPU troika of PPs to VMN. By a resolution of the OGPU Collegium dated May 10, 1931, the sentence was changed to 10 years in labor camp. Sent to the Solovetsky camp, then transferred to Medvezhyegorsk. Died in custody on April 29, 1932. Rehabilitated by a resolution of the Presidium of the Leningrad City Court dated August 21, 1959.

07/25/2015 at house No. 1/8 on Bolshaya Pushkarskaya Street in St. Petersburg in memory of A.V. Borodin. A personal memorial sign was installed as part of the "Last Address" project.
