Kokotov Serafim Kirillovich, расстрелянный
Bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Sergius orientation. Bishop of Tomsk in 1935-1936. Arrested in Tomsk in 1936, executed in Smolensk
Born on January 10, 1891 in the village. Grafovka of the Belgorod district of the Kursk province. Graduated from a teacher's seminary. In 1918-1921 he studied at the Petrograd Theological Courses. He served as a psalm-reader in the church of the village of Gontarovka, Sudzhansky district, Kursk province. On November 21, 1921 he was ordained a deacon, and on March 19, 1922 a priest. On March 27, 1926, he was tonsured a monk with the name Seraphim and ordained to the rank of hieromonk. After tonsure, at the request of the Metropolitan of Kursk and Oboyan, he was sent to missionary work among foreigners of the Caucasus. In 1930, being in the rank of archimandrite, he was appointed to the Peter and Paul Cathedral Church in the city of Tarusa and for a long time, before the appointment of a second priest to the temple, he performed divine services in it every day. When the cathedral church was closed, Fr. Seraphim lived for some time (before his episcopal consecration) in Tarusa, secretly performing religious services and services in the homes of parishioners. On December 17, 1934 he was consecrated Bishop of Gomel, but did not govern the diocese.
Since May 27, 1935 - Bishop of Tomsk. Arrested in Tomsk on March 23, 1936. May 31, 1936, retired. On May 13, 1937, on charges of “counter-revolutionary agitation, a/c preaching, the head of a k/r organization of exiled and monastic clergy, assistance to exiled clergy” (acc. under Article 58-2, KRA) he was sentenced to 5 years in labor camp, counting the term from 03/23/1936. He was sent to Smolensk to serve his sentence and was kept in prison. In Smolensk he was arrested for the second time on March 23. 1938, by decision of the UNKVD troika for the Smolensk region. sentenced to VMN. Shot on April 3, 1938.

Completion of the SPO ... branch of the Tomsk Mountains. department of the NKVD - USOV of the State Security Directorate of the NKVD for Sibkrai, having examined the investigative material in case No. ... and taking into account that gr. KOKOTOV Serafim Kirillovich, born in 1890, Russian, non-partisan, born. mountains Gomel is sufficiently exposed for the fact that, being hostile towards Soviet power, he created the ep. church group, which involved exiled clergy and monastic elements, carried out anti-Soviet agitation aimed at discrediting the leaders of the party and government, systematically from the church pulpit in front of believers, with sermons to-r. content.
DECIDED:
Gr. Seraphim KOKOTOV should be brought as a defendant under Art. 58-10-11 of the Criminal Code, the measure of suppression of methods of evading investigation and trial is to choose the detention of the defendant in places of detention under the jurisdiction of the NKVD.

KOKOTOV Serafim Kirillovich, born in 1891, Russian, gr. USSR, native of the village. Grakhovka, Kursk region.
Kokotov is a minister of religious worship, his last position is bishop of the mountains. Tomsk. While free, KOKOTOV spent time with Mr. work among believing citizens and monks in organizing the kr. groups, to fight Soviet power, spread provocative rumors and campaigned in the church, for which on May 13, 1937, the Special Meeting of the NKVD of the USSR sentenced him to imprisonment for a period of 5 years.
While serving his sentence in prison, KOKOTOV still remains an enemy of Soviet Power, agitates prisoners and spreads rumors that the end of the world is soon. He says that in the Soviet Union, the Russian faith was destroyed. Slanders the leaders of the party and government for allegedly not allowing representatives of religion to correctly defend it at debates. He hates the Soviet Government because in Russia they do not allow religious ceremonies to be held as before. He openly declares, no matter how much they torture me, I will not renounce my rank and will preach as I preached before.
In his cell he violates the rules by chatting with other prisoners in neighboring cells.
