Born August 2, 1937 in Leningrad. After the arrest and execution of his father, in July 1938 he was sent to a camp at the Yaya station in the Kemerovo region together with his mother, from where in 1939 he was taken to Leningrad by his father's sister. In 1941, together with his aunt and grandmother, he was evacuated from Leningrad to the Ulyanovsk region (the town of Sengiley), then to the Moscow region (the town of Pushkin). They returned to Leningrad in the summer of 1946. Upon returning to Leningrad, he lived in the house of his mother's sister. Since 1947, after his mother returned from the camp, he lived with her in the city of Volkhov, where he completed a seven-year school. In 1955 he graduated from the Leningrad Power Engineering College. In 1961 he graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, specializing in hydropower engineer. He started working at the Specialized Trust Spetsgidroenergomontazh, where he worked until 1991. From 1961 to 1974, he was engaged in the installation of units at hydroelectric power plants in Eastern Siberia, and from 1974 to 1977, he worked in Syria. From 1991 to 2007, he was engaged in private business. In 1999, by the conclusion of the St. Petersburg prosecutor's office, he was recognized as a victim of political repression and rehabilitated.
