Laushkin Konstantin Damianovich
Born 26.02.1917 in the village of Bochaty, Kuznetsk district, Kemerovo region. From 1937 a student of the archeology department of the history faculty of Leningrad State University. In 1938, as a third-year student, he was enrolled in the staff of the N. Ya. Marr Institute of the History of Material Culture as a junior research fellow. In 1941, he defended his diploma in history and archaeology with honors and was called up to the front. Participant of the Great Patriotic War, wounded. In May 1944 he was sent to Gorky, to the position of head of the history and geography cycle at the preparatory school of the Navy. After the war, he continued to teach; in 1947 the school was transferred to Engels. Arrested on 17.10.1951 in Moscow. Sentenced on 14.03.1952 under Art. 58-10 part 2 to 25 years in a correctional labor camp. Imprisoned in Taishetlag. By the decision of the Military Tribunal of the Moscow Military District dated 03.02.1955, the criminal case was terminated, he was released on 26.02.1955. In 1956-1960 he was a scientific and technical employee of the cultural and educational department, in 1960-1967 a junior researcher, head of the publishing department, in 1967-1976 a junior researcher of the East Slavic sector of the IE LC. On 22.11.1966 he defended his candidate's dissertation on the topic "Onega Sanctuary (an attempt at a new decipherment of some Karelian hieroglyphs)". He died on 06.03.1994 in St. Petersburg.
