Novopashenny Petr Alekseevich
Captain 1st rank, Arctic explorer. Participant of the White movement in North-West Russia
Born in 1881 in Novgorod; Russian; education - Naval Cadet Corps and Hydrographic Department of the Nikolaev Naval Academy. Russian military man, captain of the 1st rank. Commander of the transport "Vaigach" and one of the main participants in the Hydrographic Expedition of the Arctic Ocean under the leadership of Boris Vilkitsky in 1914. From 1919, a participant in the White movement in the North-West of Russia. Emigrated. Lived in Germany, Thuringia, Kufhauser, Ringleben. Arrested by the Soviet special services on June 14, 1946 in Ringleben. Sentenced by the military tribunal of the garrison of Berlin on August 19, 1946 under Article 58-2 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (for "armed uprising") to 10 years in a labor camp with confiscation of valuables seized during the arrest. He died in a transit camp in Orsha in 1950. He was rehabilitated by the Main Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation on 02/09/2001.
