"Poles in the History of Musical Culture of Tomsk in the Late 19th – Early 20th Centuries" is a research article by S.P. Vavilov and V.A. Khanevich, dedicated to the contribution of the Polish diaspora to the development of musical life in Tomsk. The authors trace the participation of Poles in the formation of the city's musical environment: from the first captive and exiled musicians to touring performers and educators who played a significant role in shaping the cultural landscape of Siberia. Based on archival information and newspaper publications from the late 19th – early 20th centuries, a panorama of musical events involving Polish performers, teachers and organizers is recreated. Particular attention is paid to the figure of Jadwiga Zaleskaya, a pianist, teacher, accompanist and public figure, whose work in Tomsk became one of the symbols of cultural interaction between peoples in the era of great migrations and transformations.
