Born in 1905 in Novgorod; graduated from the Unified Labor School in Pushkin and the 1st Petrograd Gymnasium, in 1921 entered the Leningrad Institute of Railway Transport, simultaneously working as an apprentice telegraphist on the North-Western Railways. In 1925-1926 he collaborated with the Novaya Vechernyaya Gazeta and the Mir Priklyucheniye magazine. In 1926-1927 he participated in the reconstruction of the Kemsky Bridge on the Murmansk Railway. After graduating from the institute in 1930, he taught at the Leningrad Naval Academy. From 1931 - Senior Researcher at the Leningrad Institute of Railway Transport, in 1932 - Senior Researcher at the Research Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics. In 1939, he defended his dissertation at Leningrad State University for the degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Arrested on 17.09.1941 without charge. Sent from Leningrad across Lake Ladoga on a barge for prisoners. He was imprisoned in Tomsk prison, then in Siblag. In 1942 he was transported to Novosibirsk, where due to exhaustion he was placed in a prison hospital. From 1942 he worked in the construction department of the Novosibirsk Regional Camp Administration. On 26.06.1943 he was charged under Article 58-10, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR. Sentenced by the Special Conference of the NKVD of the USSR for Novosibirsk Oblast to 1 year and 7 months of imprisonment, time already served was counted, and he was released. From 1943 - Senior Engineer of the Construction Department in Mariysk, Kemerovo Oblast, in 1944-1949. – professor of the department of strength of materials at Tomsk Polytechnic Institute, since 1949 – deputy director and professor of the Altai Machine-Building Institute in Barnaul. In 1952-1956 – professor, head of the department of higher mathematics and strength of materials at Stalingrad Agricultural Institute. Rehabilitated by the Collegium of the Supreme Court in 1956. Returned to Leningrad, taught at LIIZhT. Since 1957 – head of the department of strength of materials at Leningrad Textile Institute named after S.M. Kirov. Since 1965 – retired. Author of memoirs.
