In 1885 he graduated from the Uglich Theological School, in 1891 from the Yaroslavl Theological Seminary, in 1895 from the Moscow Theological Academy. From 1906 - Bishop of Kyoto, from 1908 - Bishop of Tikhvin, from 1913 - Bishop of Omsk and Pavlodar, from 1914 - Bishop of Perm and Solikamsk. In 1915 he was elevated to the rank of archbishop. Arrested 06/17/1918 in Perm. Killed by members of the Cheka on the night of 06/20/1918.
