Genus. in 1915 in the village of Rozhenets, Arkhangelsk region. In 1930 he was expelled from school as the son of a kulak. In 1931, after the dispossession of his family, he fled to Novosibirsk under an assumed name. He studied at a vocational school at a machine plant. He moved to Ukraine in 1935 and was drafted into the army in 1936. Arrested on December 14, 1937 in Kandalaksha. Sentenced to 7 years in labor camp and 3 years of disqualification. Kept in Karlag. Released on December 14, 1944. In 1946 he moved to Arkhangelsk in violation of the verdict of the Military Tribunal. He worked as a shop foreman at a ship repair plant. In 1948, he was expelled from Arkhangelsk as a former prisoner and left for his homeland. Rehabilitated in 1946
