Genus. in 1922 in Moscow. From 1938 he lived in Leningrad. 07/05/1941 volunteered for the front. He was a machine gunner, then a driver in a motor battalion. In the summer of 1942, he was sent to a settlement from the Leningrad Front (because of his surname), and escaped. Arrested in the Kurgan region. Sentenced to 8 years in labor camp and transferred to Solikamsk. Released due to the intervention of M.I. Kalinin. With the rank of sergeant major in the fall of 1943, he was sent to the front. Last name changed from "Soikkonen" to "Saikonin". Because of a fight on the way to the front, he was court-martialed, then to the front line. Shell-shocked near Kyiv, discharged. Demobilized in 1946. In 1950 he returned to Leningrad.
