Reproduction methods:

Born in 1902, Jewish; specialized military education; member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) since 1918; assistant to the Chief of the General Staff of the Red Army for aviation. Lived in Moscow. Arrested in June 1941. Sentenced to capital punishment by order of L.P. Beria No. 2756/B of 18.10.1941. Shot on 28.10.1941 in the village of Barbysh, Kuibyshev Region. Rehabilitated in 1954.

In 2008, a cenotaph of Ya.S. Smushkevich was unveiled at the Monino Memorial Military Cemetery in the urban-type settlement of Monino, Shchyolkovsky Urban District, Moscow Region - a bust by sculptor L.S. Razumovsky.
