Genus. in 1870 in Staraya Russa, Novgorod province. In 1889 he graduated from the teachers' seminary in Novgorod and grades 5-7 from the theological seminary. Arrested in May 1921 in the city of Alexandria, Kherson province. together with 10 parishioners on suspicion of “participation in a counter-revolutionary organization”, released after 11 days. In 1923, he was arrested twice: by the Odessa OGPU for a wedding, then in Ananyev for violating a written undertaking not to leave Odessa. He was under arrest for 2 months, acquitted on December 22, 1923. Since 1925 - Bishop of Spaso-Klepikovsky. Arrested 01/09/1926. On April 16, 1926, by a resolution of a special meeting at the OGPU Collegium, he was sentenced to 3 years of exile; he served the sentence in Surgut (according to other sources, in 1926-1927 he was in the Solovetsky special-purpose camp, where he worked as a privateer in logging). On July 29, 1927, by a resolution of a special meeting at the OGPU Collegium, the sentence was changed: the bishop was deprived of the right to reside in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Kharkov, Odessa, Rostov-on-Don and the provinces, with attachment to a specific place of residence for the remainder of the period. Since 1927, he lived in the village of He, Obdorsky district, Tobolsk district. On December 23, 1927, by resolution of the Special Meeting of the OGPU Collegium, the sentence was reduced. In 1927-1929 - Bishop of Yeletsky, since 1931 - Bishop of Buturlinovsky.
