Years of life: 1886-1945(?)
Reproduction methods:
Genus. in 1886 in Kyiv in the family of a German subject; Higher education: graduated from the philological department of the historical and philological faculty of St. Petersburg University (1908). Since 1919 in exile: initially lived in Belgrade, in 1920–1922 in Warsaw; from 1922 in Prague: secretary of the Russian Pedagogical Bureau, editor of its bulletins; in 1922–1939 he taught Russian language and Russian literature at Charles University and at the Comenius Pedagogical Institute in Prague. Arrested by Soviet repressive authorities in May 1945, then traces are lost: according to one version, he committed suicide, according to another, he was shot in the courtyard of a Prague prison, according to a third, he died on the way to the camp.
