Genus. in 1925 in the Ukrainian SSR, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Kosovo district, Khimchin village; Ukrainian; secondary theological education; projectionist, priest of the Russian Orthodox Church. In 1944 convicted under Article 54-10, Part 2, 54-11 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1946, in prison, he was again convicted under Art. 58-10 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR. Released in 1953 “with credit for working days.” Lived in the Ukrainian SSR, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Snyatinsky district, Kosmach village. Arrested on January 20, 1972. Sentenced by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Court on June 12, 1972 under Art. 62 part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR to 7 years in a penal colony (of which the first 2 years of imprisonment) and 3 years of exile. He served his sentence in Vladimir prison and Dubravlaga, and exile in the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. 06/01/1976 renounced Soviet citizenship. In 1976, while in exile, he declared his affiliation with the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.Since November 1979 - member of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group. In 1987-1990 lived in Canada and was a priest of the metropolis. After returning to Ukraine, on April 28, 1990, he was tonsured a monk and elevated to the rank of archimandrite with the name Vladimir, and the next day he was ordained a bishop.
