Department of Drug Development of the Research Institute for Biological Testing of Chemical Compounds. Arrested 08/01/1983 on charges of treason in the form of espionage. Convicted on February 24, 1984. Military Tribunal of the Moscow Military District under Art. 15, 64 paragraph "a" of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 10 years of strict regime. Kept in ZH-385/3-5 in the village. Barashevo, Tengushevsky district, Mordovian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (from 04/26/1984 to 01/15/1988), then in the Urals VS-389/35 (from 04/19/1988 to 12/01/1989). Released by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Court dated August 17, 1989. After release, he left for Germany.
