Arrested on 06/02/1958. Sentenced by the Supreme Court of the Latvian SSR on 08/05/1958 under Art. 58-10 part 1 to 5 years of labor camp. Kept in Dubravlaga, Mordovian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, ZH-385. Released 06/02/1963 He returned to Liepaja and worked as a graphic designer. In 1981 he signed an “Open Letter to the Heads of Government of the USSR and the Nordic Countries on the Issue of Creating a Nuclear-Free Zone in Northern Europe.” During perestroika he joined the Popular Front of Latvia.
