Born in 1927. Arrested on June 15, 1970, for intending to hijack an airplane, as he was unable to obtain permission from the Soviet government to leave for Israel. He was involved in the group "Airplane Case." In December 1970, he was sentenced to death. Following numerous protests around the world and the intervention of leading government officials from various countries, on December 31, 1970, his death sentence was commuted to 15 years in prison. He served his sentence in Mordovia and Perm camps. He died on August 25, 2015.
