Genus. in 1959 in Delhi, India (father worked as a translator). He lived in Moscow, in 1977 he entered the correspondence department of the University of Tartu, worked as a watchman at Moscow refrigerator No. 7. 01/14/1979 arrested together with S.L. Polyakov for shouting in a Moscow metro car: “The CPSU is a gang, down with the CPSU.” Sent to Butyrskaya prison, charged under Part 2 of Art. 206 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR ("malicious hooliganism"). Convicted by the people's court of the Moskvoretsky district of Moscow on September 24, 1979 to 4 years in a high-security camp. Sent to a camp in the Buryat Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. 09/01/1980 according to the amnesty decree of 06/27/1980 (in connection with the Olympics) on parole with mandatory involvement in work. Sent to "chemistry" in Gusinoozersk, Buryat Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. On January 18, 1981 he was sent to camp OV-84/3 "E" for violating the regime. After his release he returned to Moscow.
