In 1983 he was convicted in Novosibirsk under Art. 190-1 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR for 2.5 years of imprisonment in a general regime camp. In 1988 emigrated to Germany. Chairman of the German Humanitarian Foundation "Continent".
