Manucharyan Alexander Aramovich
Genus. in 1929 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR; Armenian; higher education; historian, art. Researcher at the Research Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR. Candidate of Historical Sciences, specialist in Armenian medieval epigraphy; published in the USSR and Italy. In recent years before his arrest, together with Polish scientists, he conducted research on Armenian epigraphy on the territory of Poland, where in connection with this he traveled twice (1977 and 1979). Arrested on May 14, 1980 for writing the articles “Everything about the national question” and “Imperialism.” Sentenced by the Supreme Court of the Armenian SSR on 04/07/1981 under Art. 65 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the ArmSSR, 67 of the Criminal Code of the ArmSSR to 4 years of penal colony, 2 years of exile. He served his term in the Perm camps, and exile in the Karakalpak Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of the Uzbek SSR. After his release he returned to Armenia. Elected People's Deputy of Armenia, member of the Human Rights Commission. Died on December 19, 2001 in Yerevan.
