Genus. in 1929, according to documents - in 1926. In 1932 (1933?) After the arrest of his parents, the GPU of the Moscow Region was sent to orphanage No. 1 in the town of Pokrov, Vladimir Region. Recorded as born in 1926, that is, an extra 3 years were added, a first and last name was made up, because he did not know his real last name and parents. In 1936 he was transferred to orphanage No. 3 in Pokrov. In 1941, after graduating from school, he was sent as a worker to an iron foundry in the village of Demikhovo, Orekhovo-Zuevsky district. In 1943 he volunteered for the front. In 1950, he was arrested in Sverdlovsk for protesting against the Soviet electoral system and sentenced to 3 years in the camps. In 1955 he was arrested again for protesting against the execution of prisoners in Sverdlovsk. Sentenced to 2 years in a penal colony, served time in the Northern Urals. After his release, he organized an underground group of workers “to fight for justice.” When the group was discovered, he tried to escape from the USSR in the Batumi region. Sentenced by the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of the Georgian SSR on March 20, 1958 under Art. 18-58-1a of the Criminal Code of the GSSR using Art. 48 to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. Released on October 26, 1967 from the Mordovian camp ZH-385. In 1978 he emigrated to the USA with his wife. In the 1980s wrote a documentary story “The Orphanage”, published in 1985 in New York. Died in the USA in 1987.
