Genus. in 1946 in the village of Pyra, Balakhninsky district, Gorky region; Russian; Incomplete higher education - studied at the Faculty of History and Philology of Gorky University. He worked as an engineer at the "NOT" Gorky association "Metalist". Lived in Gorky. Arrested 10/22/1970. Sentenced by the Gorky Regional Court on 02/02/1971 under Article 70 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 4 years in a penal colony. By the ruling of the Supreme Court of the RSFSR in April 1971 Art. 70 Part 1 reclassified to Art. 190-1 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (“dissemination of deliberately false fabrications discrediting the Soviet state and social system”), the term was reduced to 1 year 6 months. Released on April 22, 1972 at the end of his term from a colony in the village of Sherstki, Gorky Region.In 1972–1987 participated in the human rights movement, in the Chronicle of Current Events, in the Fund for Assistance to Political Prisoners, and in the dissemination of samizdat.
In 1979–1983 editor of the samizdat magazines "Thawed" and "Walks on St. Bartholomew's Night". In 1988 - one of the founders and first chairman of the Serpukhov historical, educational and human rights society "Memorial". In 1989 - member of the Board of the All-Union Society "Memorial".
In 1989, he resumed his studies at the correspondence department of the Faculty of History of the University of Nizhny Novgorod, from which he graduated with honors in 1991.
Lived in Serpukhov, Moscow region. In 1990-2011 was the editor of the newspaper "Sovet", the author of memoirs and 4 poetry collections. He was the chairman of the Serpukhov Memorial and led the Literary Club. He taught at the International Academy of Business and Management in Protvino. Died 12/07/2014.
