Senik (Senyk) Irina Mikhailovna

Genus. in 1926 in Lvov; Ukrainian; Special secondary education, poetess. She worked as a nurse in a tuberculosis dispensary. In 1946 she was convicted under Art. 54-1a, 54-2 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR to 10 years of imprisonment and lifelong exile. Imprisoned in Ozerlag, Angarlag. Released from the camp in 1956, in exile in Anzhero-Sudzhensk. She was able to return to Ukraine in 1968. She lived in Ivano-Frankovsk. Arrested on November 17, 1972. Sentenced by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Court on January 26, 1973 under Art. 62 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR to 6 years of penal colony and 5 years of exile. Imprisoned in Dubravlag, in exile in Taldy-Kurgan region. KazSSR. Released in 1983. Member of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group (since 1979). Honorary member of the International PEN Club. She was awarded the Order of Merit, III degree (2005), the Order of Courage, I degree (2006). She died on October 25, 2009 in Borislav.
