Genus. OK. 1950 in the city of Zadonsk, Lipetsk region. Since 1978 was repeatedly placed in a mental hospital - due to his reluctance to work for the state and posting critical leaflets. On 10/05/1990, he single-handedly captured and hijacked to Finland a Yak-40 aircraft of the Leningrad CAA, flying Novgorod-Leningrad-Petrozavodsk. He asked for political asylum. 05.12.1990 issued to the USSR by the Finnish authorities. After being held in a pre-trial detention center in Leningrad, he was placed in a mental hospital, where he remained for several months. After his release he returned to Zadonsk.
