Genus. in 1906 in Dvinsk. He studied at the 1st Higher Art School - State Free Art Workshops in Vitebsk (1919–1921), at the Art and Pedagogical College in Petrograd (1921–1924), at Vkhutein (1924–1928), in the workshop of P. N. Filonov. Member of the group "Masters of Analytical Art" (1927–1928). Arrested in 1931 on charges of “slander against the artists of the revolution” and sentenced to 3 years of exile. He served exile in Kursk and Borisoglebsk. In 1934 he was released and moved to Moscow. Arrested in 1948. 04/17/1948 sentenced by the Special Investigation Department under the USSR MGB to 10 years of labor camp under Art. 19-58-1a, 17-58-8, 58-10. The period begins on January 20, 1948. He served his sentence in Special Blade No. 6 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Rechlag, Vorkuta, Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic). Released on November 18, 1955. Rehabilitated in 1956
