Genus. in 1936 in Moscow. For 20 years he worked as a vacuum equipment adjuster at the Research Institute of the Moscow Sapphire Microelectronics Plant. He was one of the leaders of the Memory Society. In 1987, he separated from D. Vasiliev’s “Memory” together with I. Sychev’s group, and in 1989 he broke away from him, creating his own organization - SNPP “Pamyat”. He was also the founder and leader of the Club of Friends of the magazine “Our Contemporary”, a member of the Patriotic Association “Fatherland”, headed by the historian Apollo Kuzmin, a member of the editorial board of the magazine “NS”. On January 18, 1990, he was present at the Central House of Writers (CDL) and took an active part in the well-known scandal, speaking out against members of the April society (“writers in support of perestroika”). On 10/12/1990 he was sentenced by the Moscow City Court under Article 74 Part II of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 2 years of imprisonment to be served in a maximum security colony. A few days before his early release, on April 26, 1991, he was found hanging from a sheet in the locker room of the chief mechanic’s department of the industrial zone of the correctional labor colony in Tver.
