Born on September 20, 1914 in the village. Kuusnymme on about. Saaremaa, Estonia. Estonian, member of the CPSU (1941-1943). Graduated from the University of Tartu (1934), Tallinn Polytechnic Institute (1941), specialty - civil engineer. During the years of the German occupation, he led the evacuation of Estonian industry to the USSR, in underground work. Arrested in 1943, sentenced to death and placed in a concentration camp in Estonia. Fled to Helsinki, arrested, placed in a POW camp. After the end of World War II, he returned to Estonia. Created a leading in 1960-1980. in the world scientific and practical school of mechanoactivation and mechanochemistry, introduced several dozens of unique disintegrator technologies (including for the military-industrial complex of the SSR), built dozens of factories and production lines. Winner of the Lenin Prize for the invention of silicalcite (1962). Doctor of Technical Sciences (1963). In 1961-1966. - founder and director of the Technological Institute of Silicalcite; in 1974-1981 - Creator and since 1978 - Director of SKTB "Desintegraator" (SKTB "Desintegrator"). In 1977, SKTB Disintegrator, together with the Austrian company Simmering-Graz-Paucker, founded the international company Dessim, which was the first and, perhaps, the only example of fruitful business cooperation between a scientific and industrial organization of the USSR and a Western company. Arrested 11/13/1981, accused of "abuse of power", sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. He died on 09/05/1985 in the hospital of the Tallinn Battery Prison. He was buried at the Metsakalmistu cemetery in Tallinn. On April 25, 1989, he was rehabilitated by the Supreme Court of the USSR, which recognized Hint's sentence as a "gross violation of socialist legality."
