Genus. in 1929 in Kharkov. In 1950 she graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Kharkov University. Until 1961, she worked as a teacher of the Russian language in schools in the Kaluga region, and then in Moscow. In 1961-1964. Studied in graduate school in the sector of mathematical and structural linguistics at the Institute of Russian Language of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1964-1965 taught general linguistics at the Faculty of Philology of Novosibirsk University. In 1965 she defended her Ph.D. thesis. In February 1966, together with Maria Rozanova, she kept a transcript of the court hearing in the case of Sinyavsky and Daniel. Subsequently, these records formed the basis of the “White Book on the case of A. Sinyavsky and Y. Daniel.” In 1968, together with Pavel Litvinov, she prepared the first letter addressed to the “world community” - regarding the “trial of four” (Yu. Galanskov, A. Ginzburg, A. Dobrovolsky, V. Lashkova). She took part in the famous protest demonstration on August 25, 1968 on Red Square against the entry of Soviet troops into Czechoslovakia. Arrested on August 25, 1968. Convicted on October 11-13, 1968 by the Moscow City Court under Art. 190-1, 190-3 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 4 years of exile in the village. Chuna, Irkutsk region. Released on December 11, 1971 due to pardon.
