Born July 30, 1889 in the Sofievka estate, Uman district, Kyiv province; Russian; higher education: graduated from the history and philology department of Petrograd University in 1915. Lived in St. Petersburg since 1908. From 1911 he lectured on Italian art; participated in the religious and philosophical circles of A.A. Meyer "Tuesday" and "Sunday" (1918-1925). In 1920-1925 he was a research associate at the Central Bureau of Local History at the USSR Academy of Sciences; in 1925-1929 he was a lecturer at the Institute of Art History. Arrested in the spring of 1925. Sentenced to exile to Siberia for 3 years, sent to Omsk. Released after 3 months following a review of his case. Returned to Leningrad. Arrested on 23.04.1929 as a member of the "counterrevolutionary monarchist organization "Voskresenye"." Sentenced by KOGPU on 22.07.1929 to 3 years in a concentration camp. In August 1929, sent to SLON. In 1930 - a prisoner of SLON. Arrested on 03.05.1930 as a "member of a counterrevolutionary organization", sent to the detention center on Sekirnaya Gora on Solovki, then - for further investigation to Leningrad. Sentenced by KOGPU on 20.06.1930 to an increase in his sentence by 1 year; returned to Solovki. In the summer of 1930 he was sent to Leningrad and involved in the investigation in the "Academy of Sciences Case". Sentenced by KOGPU on 23.08.1931 to 5 years in a corrective labor camp, sent to Belbaltlag (at Medvezhya Gora station). Released after completing credit tests in the fall of 1933. Returned to Leningrad. In 1937 he lived in Moscow, Bolshoy Afanasyevsky Lane, Bldg. 41, Apt. 1. Employee of the Literary Museum. Arrested in September 1937. Sentenced by the Troika of the NKVD of the Moscow Region on 20.12.1937 to 8 years in a labor camp. Sentenced to Bamlag (at Ussuri station). Released from the camp on 02.12.1939, the case of 29.10.1929 was closed upon review. Member of the Writers' Union since 1943. Died in Moscow on 02.09.1958. Rehabilitated in the 1928 case by the Presidium of the Leningrad City Court on 11.10.1989; in the 1930 case - by the Presidium of the Leningrad City Court on 23.01.1959.
