Genus. in 1936 in the village. Holoniv, Gorokhovsky district, Volyn region Ukrainian SSR; Ukrainian; higher education in 1958. Graduated from the Faculty of History of Lviv University. History teacher at the Pedagogical Institute. Lived in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukrainian SSR.
Arrested 09/01/1965. Sentenced by the Volyn Regional Court on January 20, 1966 under Article 62 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR to 4 years in prison. He served his term in Dubravlag and Vladimir Prison. Arrested on 06/01/1970. Sentenced by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Court on 11/18/1970 under Art. 62 part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR to 9 years in prison (of which the first 6 years in prison) and 5 years of exile. He served his term in the Vladimir Prison and Dubravlage. 04/28/1979, together with A. Ginzburg, was exchanged for 2 KGB officers who failed in the West. First he lived in the USA, then in Canada. Since 1997, he lived permanently in Lviv, taught at the university. He died on April 16, 2019 in Lviv.
