In August 1895 - transferred to the Guard with the rank of second lieutenant of the guard, from August 1899 - lieutenant, from August 1903 - staff captain, from August 1907 - captain, in September 1913 - served in the Life Guards Finnish Regiment, in July 1914 - commander of the 14th th company. A participant in the First World War, he was wounded at the front; in April 1916 he became a colonel. Arrested in 1924. Sentenced to 2 years in labor camp. Sent to the Solovetsky special purpose camp. In November 1925, he was released from the camp and sent into exile in the Novgorod region. In the fall of 1926, the case was denied.
