Genus. in 1893 in Novocherkassk, Don region. Graduated from classical gymnasium (1911) and Moscow University in the philosophical department and department. classical philology (1916). Arrested on 04/18/1930, was involved in the so-called case. counter-revolutionary organization "True Orthodox Church". Sentenced on October 30, 1931 by the OGPU Collegium under Art. 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to 10 years in prison. While imprisoned in Svirlag, in the 2nd department (village Vazhiny), he worked as a watchman at a timber exchange. Released early by resolution of the OGPU Collegium dated 09/07/1932 due to disability. From 10/22/1932 - a civilian employee in the Belbaltlag system (senior proofreader of the design department of Svirstroy), sent to the station. Bear Mountain, where his wife was imprisoned. In August 1933 - technical proofreader of the linear bureau of the design department, 08/04/1933 restored to civil rights as a drummer in the construction of the White Sea Canal. After his wife's early release in August 1933, he returned with her to Moscow. Returned to scientific work. Doctor of Philological Sciences (1943). Since 1944 - professor at Moscow. state Pedagogical Institute. Since 1953, L.'s works have appeared in print. Author of translations of Aristotle, Plotinus, Sextus Empiricus, Proclus and Nicholas of Cusa. He was editor of Plato's works (vols. 1-3, 1968-1972). He died in Moscow on May 24, 1988, and was buried at the Vagankovskoye cemetery. Rehabilitated 03/22/1994.
