Genus. in 1883 in the town of Gora-Gorki, Mogilev region; Jew. He studied in Orsha, at the Agricultural School (1900-1902). For participation in the activities of a Social Democratic circle, he was expelled from the school. For participation in work in Social Democratic organizations, he was sentenced in 1907 by a military court in Vyborg to 10 years of hard labor. He served hard labor in Pskov, Shlisselburg, and Irkutsk. Released in 1917, he left for Arkhangelsk. First editor of the newspaper "Pravda Severa". Delegate to the Second Congress of Soviets in 1917, member of the Arkhangelsk Committee of the RSDLP (Mensheviks), secretary of the presidium of the provincial executive committee, member of the Military-Industrial Committee, provincial commissioner of finance. Arrested in 1918 as a member of the City Duma. In 1922 he published a statement about his break with Menshevism. He worked in party and trade union work in Arkhangelsk, Vologda and Moscow. Arrested in March 1938. Sentenced on May 28, 1938 to 10 years in labor camp. Released in 1948 with restrictions on residence in 38 cities of the country. Lived in Kostroma, Galich. Rehabilitated by the ruling of the military tribunal of the Moscow Military District dated October 27, 1955. He returned to Moscow in 1955. He died on January 18, 1969, as a Soviet Union pensioner, and was buried at the Novo-Devichye Cemetery.
