Born in 1925 in Latvia, Latvian. Lived in Valmiera County. After his father's arrest in 1945, he was arrested together with his mother (sentenced to 6 years) and sister (sentenced to 4 years). Sentenced under Article 58a to 10 years in a labor camp and 5 years of disenfranchisement. Imprisoned in Kolyma from 1947 to 1951, then transferred to the Yakut ASSR, Indigirka. Released in 1953. Returned to Latvia in 1975.
