Born 03/11/1890 in the village. A youngster from the Tula province. In the Navy since 1911. After the uprising on the battleship Gangut in December 1915, he was arrested and in November 1916 sentenced to 7 years of hard labor. During the February Revolution of 1917, he was released from the Peter and Paul Fortress. In November 1917 - delegate to the 1st All-Russian Congress of Military Sailors. From June 1919, after the suppression of the counter-revolutionary rebellion, he was the commissar of the forts "Krasnaya Gorka" and "Seraya Loshad", organized the combat activities of the forts to repel the advance of Yudenich's troops. From March 1920 - commandant of the fortified district of the Dnieper-Bug estuary and the Ochakov fortress, later - commandant of the Mariupol, and then Kerch fortified districts. From April 1 1921 – Commissar of the Marines. Republic forces.
