Born in 1877. Head of department, Seismological Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences. From 1928 to 1934 he lived in Leningrad at the following address: Vasilievsky Island, 13th Line, Bldg. 16. In 1934, the institute, together with the Academy of Sciences, was transferred to Moscow. In the late 1930s, he was arrested and exiled to Ashgabat. At the time of his arrest, he was living in Moscow at the following address: Spiridonovka Street, Bldg. 24, Apt. 39. In Turkmenistan, he worked in a department of the Academy of Sciences and was involved in seismography, publishing more than 40 works. His experience was in great demand after the catastrophic earthquake in Turkmenistan. He retired in 1956. He died in 1964. He was buried in Ashgabat.
