Genus. in 1950 in Moscow. In 1971 he graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University. He worked at a scientific research institute, as a teacher at a school, then again engaged in science. In 1973-82. participated in the dissident movement (group "young socialists"), for which in 1982-1983. was in jail. Since the spring of 1993 - a leading specialist in the Russian-American Foundation for Labor Research and Training, since the spring of 1994 - an expert at the ELF Labor Research Foundation. In September 1994 he returned to scientific work and teaching at school.
