Genus. 11/24/1921 in the city of Staraya Russa, Novgorod province. In 1923 the family moved to Petrograd. After her father’s arrest in December 1937, E. and her younger sister Marksena were transported to Orsha (BelSSR) to live with her mother’s sister. In 1940, E. entered the history department of Leningrad State University; in February 1942, together with the university, she was evacuated to Saratov, where she transferred to the Faculty of Economics. She graduated from Leningrad State University in 1945. In 1949 she was dismissed from her position as a teacher of political economy at the Shipbuilding Institute as the “daughter of a repressive.” In 1957 she was admitted to the Department of Political Economy at the Polytechnic Institute, where she worked for more than 30 years. Candidate of Economic Sciences. Author of the books “We are leaving, we are staying” (St. Petersburg, 2001), “My Siege University” (St. Petersburg, 2005), biographical essays and memoirs published in the magazines “Zvezda” and “Neva”. She died in St. Petersburg on October 14, 2017.
