Born in 1924 in the village of Gorgala, Shumskaya volost, Volkhov district, Petrograd province; from peasants. Around 1927 she moved with her family to Volkhovstroy, Leningrad province. At the age of three she ended up in an orphanage. Until 1934 she was kept in children's institutions in Leningrad and the Leningrad region. In 1934 she was transferred to the orphanage in Opochka, Pskov region. In 1941 she was evacuated to the orphanage in Sverdlovsk.
