Vygodsky Nikolay Yakovlevich
Composer, musicologist, pianist and organist
Genus. in 1900 in St. Petersburg; higher education - graduated from the Tbilisi Conservatory in piano in 1920 and the performing department in organ in 1924, later he studied at the music research department of the Moscow Conservatory. Member of RAPM (“Russian Association of Proletarian Musicians”). Since 1922 - teacher, since 1932 - associate professor at the Moscow Conservatory, since 1931 - head of the editorial office of educational and pedagogical literature at the Muzgiz publishing house. Arrested 01/21/1935. Sentenced on April 10, 1935 by a Special Meeting of the NKVD of the USSR for counter-revolutionary activities to 5 years in a labor camp. Sent to Belbaltlag, to the Solovetsky camp, where he remained until 1939. He was a member of the camp concert brigade. Died during transfer in Vladimir prison 11/26/1939. Rehabilitated by the Supreme Court of the USSR on April 25, 1956.
