Genus. in 1895 in the village. Pertniki (Piertniki) of Rezhitsa district, Vitebsk region; from workers; member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) since 1919. In 1906, he came with his father to work in St. Petersburg and worked in factories. In 1915 he was called up for military service in the navy. In 1917 he graduated from the electric mine school in Kronstadt and was appointed torpedo operator on the Makrel submarine. During demobilization he remained in service. Participant in the Civil War. In 1921 he was transferred to Crimea and appointed as a foreman on the submarine "Nerpa". In 1926 he graduated from the Naval Political School named after. Roshal in Leningrad. Appointed political instructor on the destroyer "Kalinin", in 1928 - assistant commander of the destroyer "Engels" for political affairs. units, in 1929 - commissar of the submarine B-2 (Panther). In 1932, he completed command diving courses and was appointed assistant commander of the B-4 submarine, then commander. In 1934 - commander of the submarine "M-74", in 1936 - commander of the submarine Shch-315 (from 1937 - Shch-3), awarded the rank of lieutenant commander. Expelled from the party on September 18, 1937, arrested on September 19, 1937. Sentenced by the Military Tribunal of the Northern Fleet on January 22, 1938 under Art. 17-58-8 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to the VMN. By the decision of the Supreme Court of the USSR Armed Forces dated March 16, 1938, the charge was reclassified under Art. 182 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, VMN was replaced by 5 years of imprisonment with loss of voting rights for 2 years and deprivation of military rank. 01/07/1942 released on parole, 08/07/1943 conviction cleared. 03/25/1942 drafted into the Red Army, enlisted in air defense, with the rank of sergeant. He sought transfer to the active fleet. In 1944, he was seconded to the Navy Officer Personnel Directorate for further service in the Navy units. Reinstated to the rank of lieutenant commander, from June 1944 he served on the floating base "Polar Star" of the Baltic Fleet submarine brigade as an assistant ship commander. Awarded the Order of the Red Banner in 1944 and the Order of the Red Star in 1945.
