017: Schneider. Schneider David Markusovich (1905-1942). Personal file of a prisoner

1941 - 1942
Annotation:

Schneider David Markusovich, born in 1905 in the village of Karsuga (Karsuge), Germany, Jewish by nationality, married. Higher education, accountant.

While in Germany, he was arrested in 1933 during the Nazi era and sentenced to 1.5 years in prison.

The case file contains a story recorded from Schneider's words on August 8, 1941 , after his arrest: His relatives were Polish citizens. He took part in the revolutionary movement in Germany, was arrested in 1933 , and imprisoned in a concentration camp, where he spent two and a half months. He subsequently fled to Poland, where he received Polish citizenship.

After September 17, 1939, he was deported to the USSR as a “refugee migrant”: “he and others were brought to the border, their Polish passports were taken away, and they were handed over to the authorities along with their Polish passports.”

In July 1941 , Schneider found himself in a settlement in the city of Tomsk, lived in the special settlement of Cheremoshniki, worked as a laborer at a timber processing plant, and was registered with the commandant's office. On August 7, 1941 , he escaped, as he later stated, with the aim of joining the army to fight the fascists. On August 9, 1941 , he was arrested at the pier in Tomsk with his camping gear. The escape was classified as a crime under Article 82, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (Escape from a place of compulsory settlement (exile) or from the route to it, as well as evasion of corrective labor sentenced to exile). He was sent to the temporary detention center of the Tomsk City NKVD, and on August 11, 1941, he was placed in Tomsk Prison No. 3 of the NKVD Novosibirsk Region. He died on May 16, 1942 (presumably, there are no death documents in the case, there is only the date the case was closed. - E.B. ).

The prisoner's archive file contains a verbal description of him: "Short stature (164 cm), thin figure, high shoulders, short neck, black hair, straight forehead, arched eyebrows, large nose, small mouth, thin lips, straight chin, large ears. Distinguishing features: no teeth."
