Cheltsov Mikhail Pavlovich
Archpriest, rector of the Izmailovsky and Trinity Cathedral
Born in 1870 in the village of Kikino, Korablinskaya volost, Ryazhsky district, Ryazan province; Russian; higher education. Archpriest, rector of the Izmailovsky and Trinity Cathedral. Lived in Petrograd, Zabalkansky pr. 29, apt. 5. From 09/06/1918 to 01/04/1919 he was a hostage of the Cheka of the KSO Union in Petrograd. Arrested on 09/09/1919 on charges of belonging to the KD party, released on 09/25/1919. In 1922, he was brought in on a case and accused of agitation against the confiscation of church valuables. Sentenced to capital punishment with replacement by imprisonment in a concentration camp, released in 1924. Arrested again on 09/02/1930 by the OGPU PP in the LVO. Sentenced on 02.01.1931 by the OGPU PP in the LVO under Article 58-11 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR to capital punishment. Executed on 07.01.1931. Canonized in 2005. Rehabilitated by the resolution of the Presidium of the Leningrad City Court dated 26.10.1988.
On April 24, 2016, a personal memorial sign was installed on house No. 14 on 2-ya Krasnoarmeyskaya Street in memory of M.P. Cheltsov as part of the Last Address project.
