Letter from Straumit A.Ya. dated September 26, 1989, entry No. 108423, to the editorial office of the television program “5th wheel” of the Leningrad television with a proposal to film a program about the Latvian riflemen and conduct part of the filming at a meeting of their descendants in Riga, where he was invited as the son of the repressed in 1937. Straumita Ya.I. and Straumit (Popova) G.V., about whom brief biographical information is given. (2 sheets, typescript).

Genus. in 1883 in the mustache Prey, Volmarsky district, Livland province. (modern Latvia); Latvian; non-partisan. He was a member of the Latvian Rifle Division, and in 1917 he joined the Bolsheviks. From the beginning of the 1920s he lived with his family in Leningrad. He worked as a foreman at the 5th confectionery plant. Arrested on December 3, 1937.
01/11/1938 sentenced to VMN by the Commission of the NKVD and the USSR Prosecutor's Office under Art. Art. 58-6-11 Criminal Code of the RSFSR.
Shot on January 18, 1938. Burial place - Leningrad. Rehabilitated in 1957
