Genus. in 1852 in Kazan into a noble family. In 1871 he completed two courses at St. Petersburg University, and in 1875 he graduated from the Konstantinovsky Military School. In 1887, he was discharged from military service with the rank of lieutenant colonel and accepted into the brethren of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. Since 1910 - Bishop of Cherkasy. In 1919 he temporarily ruled the Kyiv Metropolis. Arrested in 1922, in 1922-1923. - expelled from Kyiv along with other Ukrainian bishops. From April to June 1923 he was imprisoned in the Butyrka prison in Moscow. Since 1925 - Archbishop of Tobolsk. He died in 1932 in Tobolsk.
