Gorbanevskaya Natalya Evgenievna
Definition: Russian poetess, translator, human rights activist, participant in the dissident movement in the USSR.

Genus. in 1936 in Moscow. Higher education; translator, poet, first editor of the Chronicle of Current Events. Lived in Moscow. Arrested on December 24, 1969 for participating in a demonstration on Red Square on August 25, 1968 against the introduction of Soviet troops into Czechoslovakia. Sentenced by the Moscow City Court on July 7, 1970 under Art. 190-1, 191 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR for compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital. Released on February 22, 1972. Emigrated on December 17, 1975. Lived in Paris. She worked in the editorial office of the magazine Continent, was a freelancer for Radio Liberty, and from the early 1980s until 2003 she worked for the newspaper Russian Thought. Since 1999, she was a member of the editorial board and editorial board of the Russian-language Warsaw magazine “New Poland”, published in it as an author and as a translator. Since 2005 - citizen of Poland. She died on November 29, 2013 in Paris. She was buried in Paris at the Père Lachaise cemetery.
