Definition: Russian poet, translator, historian of Russian literature and ideological thought, human rights activist, editor of the Chronicle of Current Events (summer 1969-autumn 1972).

Genus. in 1935. Studied at the history department of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute (1953-1958). From the end of 1959 he worked as a history teacher at school. From 1965 to May 1968 he taught history and literature at the physics and mathematics school. He acted as a translator from English, Italian, French, Polish and Spanish (Francesco Petrarca, T. Gautier, Verlaine, Chesterton, Cesar Vallejo, M. Hernandez, Lorca, A. Mickiewicz, Hovhannes Tumanyan, etc.).
He was engaged in human rights activities. He was the editor of the Chronicle of Current Events (summer 1969–autumn 1972), published its issues from the 11th to the 27th issue (with the exception of the 15th). He was friends with Y. Daniel, L. Alekseeva, A. Geleskul, N. Trauberg.
Author of works on Russian literature - A. Blok, B. Pasternak, A. Akhmatova, A. Platonov, V. Shalamov, etc. - which were highly appreciated by A. D. Sakharov, L. K. Chukovskaya, M. M. Bakhtin , M.S. Petrovykh, D.S. Samoilova and others, were published abroad (they were published in Russia only in the 1990s).
In September 1973, under pressure from the authorities, he and his family left the USSR. He worked at the Faculty of Slavic Studies at the University of Jerusalem. Beginning in 1974, he developed severe depression. He committed suicide in 1978.
