Ovchinnikov flee from the USSR to Finland. Served his sentence in 1966-1976. in ZH-385, VS-389/35. Signed a letter in defense of A.I. Ginzburg in 1977 In 1978 emigrated. Lived in Rome, then in the USA.

Sentenced by the Moscow City Court on May 14, 1959 under Art. 7 of the Law of the USSR "On criminal liability for state crimes" of December 25, 1958 (dissemination of deliberately false fabrications discrediting the Soviet state system) to imprisonment for a period of 7 years. Arrested in May 1966 for attempting to cross the border (together with her first husband Yu.T. Mashkov). She gave birth to a daughter in prison. Sentenced by the Leningrad City Court first to 10 years (the prosecutor asked for 15 years), after the verdict was overturned by the Supreme Court when the case was retried by the Leningrad City Court in the same composition - to 6 years (the prosecutor asked for 10). In 1981 lived in Tarusa. Interrogated in the case of Ivanov (Skuratov) A.M. in 1981
